- Suborder: Lacertilia (=Sauria) (lizards)
- Family: Scincidae (skinks)
- Genus: Carlia (Australian four-fingered

|
Also Known As: curious
brown skink |
Scientific Name: Carlia fusca
(Dumeril and Bibron, 1839) |
Habitat: For this
population, rocky shoreline with ground cover foliage. Found 10
feet from tidal zone. |
fusca="brown, dark, swarthy"
|

total. |
|
Food: Insects and
small vertebrates (including other lizards). |
Range: Originally native to New
Guinea; introduced to Guam, Saipan, and Rota (Marianas Islands) |
I found several specimens of this lizard at War
in the Pacific National Historical Park, Asan, Guam. The
picture here is a still from several minutes' worth of video I
took while observing these skinks near the shoreline. |
|
This species apparently was
introduced to Guam in the 1960s, to the detriment of native
skinks. |
