This turtle was seen in Hanauma Bay, O'ahu,
Hawai'i, in summer 1998. These turtles are commonly seen in the
coastal waters of the islands. They appear to be slow moving
creatures until you get close to them, then they amaze you with
their speed and agility. If you keep your distance you can
watch as they search the coral reef for food (they are primarily
herbivorous). Keeping your distance is a good idea, as it is
unlawful to harass the turtles. |
